The Becoming Beauty Trilogy (Classical Kingdoms #1-3) by Brittany Fichter (ARC- reviewed in 2017)

I received an ARC of this book, and I am voluntarily posting my review. I really enjoyed this trilogy. All three books are very creative takes on the the original fairytales. The characters are dynamic and well-developed. I especially loved that the second and third books are based on fairytales that have not been been retold nearly as often as beauty and the beast. These are definitely worth the read! I'm sure I will read them again.

Week 10- #GRIMMread2019

The one that really piques my interest is "The Robber Bridegroom". It's a haunting and gruesome tale, and what I find most intriguing about it is the theme of women's intuition. Everytime the girl follows her intuition, it leads her to safety, but when she ignores her intuition, even reluctantly, she is drawn into danger. By all appearances, the girl's fiance seems to be a decent man, but from the beginning, she senses something is wrong with him. He sends chills down her spine. She avoids him as much as possible, but she is pressured by him and her family to ignore her intuition, and she reluctantly goes to visit her fiance's house in the forest. Format: ebook Category: Genre Classic (Horror) Back to the Classics Reading Challenge 2020 ( Karen's Books and Chocolate ) Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.      So I've just been so overwhelmed and ill, so my lastest reviews just aren't going to be as set as detailed. I never got around to reading Frankenstein before now, despite it's popularity, and boy was I wowed! I'm just even more blown away when I think about the fact that it was written by a pregnant runaway teenager. It's really so different from the popular depictions of Frankenstein, and it has really deep themes. This is now one of my favorites, and I know I'll read it again.
